What does Run the thread mean? I don't understand what does run the thread means in this paragraph (It's about sewing darts): Hand knot the thread ends or run the thread for a couple of stitches beyond the dart point to let the threads twist. Can somebody explain me what does run the thread means in the paragraph from above?

When you sew, you start with sticking the needle with the thread attached into the cloth and then bringing it out of the cloth. If you continue doing this , it is called treading. A stitch is one time in and out of the cloth. You tread one stitch at a time. Hope this helps.
