I had better go... I had better go home now. & I should go home now. What is the difference?

“Had better” is used when there might have (bad) consequences if the person doesn’t act. I had better do my homework(, otherwise I will be grounded). “Should” expresses more the speaker’s feelings; what they think is right: I should talk to her to make her feel better. I hope that helps.
