维修 vs. 修理 and 地址 vs. 位置 1) When it comes to repairing something, is there a difference between 维修 and 修理? 2) When asking someone for their address, I've heard both 你的地址是什么 and 你在哪个位置 but how are 地址 and 位置 used differently or do they mean the same thing? 谢谢大家。

维修 is more professional, you usually hire someone to work on a more complicated project. 修理 can by done by anyone, like repair something small.

@Justin Lee Hi, I think Grace has just offered you an elaborated answer, shares the same point as my examples. It depends whether it is for a person or object. In English, we often say ’It needs to be fixed‘,or ' I would like it to be fixed'. But in Chinese,I would normally say '它(物) 需要 维修'. or ’我(人)会 修理 它‘. As for the conversation about your location. It seems for a delivery. The person was actually asking ' Where is your location RIGHT NOW.' We saved the word' 现在’ in the sentence as sometimes we do in English. For example, we say ’Hello from New York‘. 'Hello’ cannot from ' New York‘. 'Hello’ have to be sent by me from 'New York‘. The person was asking for your current location, based on an assumption of that you are on a constant move from one spot to another. The answer you provided is an ”address“ which normally with a specific location and holds for a period. There is another situation I would use ’位置‘ ,when we ask things without knowing a specific ’地址‘, unusual but possible. sometimes online or phone, we ask A:请问你在哪个位置?Might I know where are you locating? B: 我在纽约。I am in New York. It is a sort of permanent as I am giving my current location, and likely not going to move away from the city next mins. I could not answer your question from a grammatical perspective, whether is a noun or verb. I took those way too granted. Any answer I gave would confuse you further.

Hi Yi Zhang, Correct me if I understood you correctly -- 维修 is a noun and 修理 is a verb, is that right? If so, are both 打电话找人维修 and 打电话找人修理 correct? Also, is the word 位置 *always* temporary? Because the conversation I learned today went like this. A: 请问你在哪个位置? B: 我们住龙源小区24栋31号。 Thank you.
