"We are also most certainly being mocked." Or "We are also being mocked in a most contemptuous way."
もの is this like a personal こと here referring to their being mocked? Or is it referring to themselves that they are 舐められた人 ?

もの:original meaning: "unmovable presence ('IT' is here!)"
it turned to:
- thing: 物
- person(impolite):者
- way of the world: 「子供は勉強するものだ」
- thing fixed:
- fixed status:
we are in the status of "ずいぶん舐められた", aren't we?
(They think they can 'ずいぶん舐める' us, don't they? Huh?)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
('something ' makes me feel sad. I don't know what is the thing though)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
※ こと:temporary presence.
* Some scholar says "物" of ”もののけ" is another origin.
