“Stir up a hornets nest” is this expression correct? I wanted to translate the Italian idiom “sollevare un vespaio” into English.is that correct? I wanted to write hornet’s! Sorry

Logically, I suppose it should be "hornets' nest" with the apostrophe after the "s", but for some reason "hornet's nest" is slightly more common. Both are frequently used, however.
