What is the difference between 편하다, 편리하다 and 편안하다?
Can these adjectives be used interchangeably?
1. + 이 집은 편안한 집이에요.
+ 이 집은 머무르기에 편한 집이에요.
2. + 이 집은 편리한 집이에요.
+ 이 집은 이용하기에 편한 집이에요.
Is it right?

- 편하다 = nice and convenient. Its meaning can include both 편리하다 and 편안하다.
- 편리하다 = convenient. 사용이 쉽고 편하다.
- 편안하다 = comfortable. 안락하다.
1. 이 집은 편안한 집이에요 = This is a comfortable house.
+ 이 집은 머무르기에 편한 집이에요 = This is a convenient house to stay in (somewhat unnatural).
*이 집은 살기(에) 편한 집이에요 = This is a nice house to live in (this is how we usually say it).
2. 이 집은 편리한 집이에요 = This is a convenient house / This is a house with a lot of amenities / convenience features.
+ 이 집은 이용하기에 편한 집이에요 => 이 집은 살기(에) 편한 집이에요.
We rarely say 이용하다 for a house. 머무르다 is also a little strange although possible.
For a house, we usually say 살기(에) 좋은 집 and 살기(에) 편한 집.
Other examples:
- 그곳은 교통이 편리하다 (The place is convenient to go to and form - i.e. close to major routes).
- 이 소파는 참 편안하다 (This sofa is very comfortable).
- 사용이 편리한 냉장고 (a refrigerator convenient to use)
- 편안한 저녁 시간 (relaxing evening hours)
