Promena, izmena, smena, mena.... what is the difference between these words in Serbian? Promena, izmena, smena, mena? Does this have to do with padaže or are they really all different words? Thanks...

Monica all these nouns are derived from the verb MENJATI, ( to change ), but their meaning could be different. So, PROMENA = act of changing. (changing a tire, change of seasons, change of direction .. ) IZMENA =exchange, (exchange of words, changing of the quard... ) SMENA = replacement, (change of the guard, to dismiss smb. MENA = change of the moon ZAMENA= replacement, to give in exchange, substitute... Sretno !

In Russian izmena -- betrayal, smena -- change, exchange; replacement, relief; shift, scheduled work period, mena -- exchange, swap. I really don't know the promena. It may be -- promenade... You may say: "It's not Serbian". But it's better than nothing.
