what does "fire horse"here mean?
The ten o'clock bell is going to ring in two minutes. Our day is divided into sections by bells. We eat and sleep and study by bells. It's very enlivening; I feel like a fire horse all of the time. There it goes! Lights out. Good night.

I've never heard that expression. However, it might have something to do with a Japanese Zodiac sign, the Fire Horse. This sign is associated with extreme bad luck. It seems like the narrator of the story feels like she just can't catch a break. Does that make sense?
