They are a little bit old: Nonetheless = that something continued anyway EXTREME EXAMPLE "The other students in the class were writhing on the floor in agony, for 19 of them life was obviously extinct, the teachers were distraught and crying hysterically pleading and begging with him to stop and not to shoot any more. NONETHELESS, he continued with his mentally deranged bloodbath and emptied both barrels into their defenceless bodies huddled in the corner instantly killing all four of them. Before finally blasting eight more rounds into the last of the students still alive." NOTWITHSTANDING = similar but something continues IN SPITE of something Example "Notwithstanding a brilliant defence by the quarterback who constantly harried the striker the entire length of the pitch. Harrison went on to score a magnificent touch down" Nevertheless = is similar to BUT a sentence connector Example "Mrs Jones was advised not to go to court she would not win and would have to pay large legal fees, NEVERTHELESS she went on to win the case and received compensation of $500,000"
