Praises for the person who drink alcohol properly and merrily I want to praise the person who drink alcohol properly and merrily. How can I say that? By the way, I think of "You seem to handle alcohol well" and ask a native speaker if it is natural. He answered that implies "You seem like an alcoholic." (I'm insulting you.) . Right? My other attempts are "You get along with alcohol.", "You nicely deal with drinking alcohol.", "The way you drink alcohol is very nice", "You drink alcohol nicely(properly or merrily). Are there natural one?

So yes, it can seem a bit insulting to say "you can sure handle your alcohol!" Because it could imply them having an alcohol addiction. It all depends on how well you know the person, and if you are close friends. A friend might not have any problem with this statement. However, to an acquaintance you might be able to say, "You look like you're having fun! Want to order another round?" or even just saying "you look like you're enjoying yourself!" Is a nice way to compliment that person who is drinking merrily. Hope that helps!

US: It's not a compliment that would usually be said (we don't tend to praise people for drinking merrily) - but, I'd go with "You can really hold your liquor." (if you're noticing that they don't seem to be acting inebriated). "You can drink me under the table" (if you are complimenting on the amount that they drank, and specifically that it is more than you drank). or "You're a happy drunk" (if they are inebriated, but still pleasant to be around. This is in opposition to "mean drunks" who start behaving poorly when they have had too much to drink.) ----- "drink responsibly" means that you are a person who stops drinking before it becomes a problem and doesn't make stupid decisions (especially deciding to drive) after they have had alcohol.
