Think about a couple of things that might build your confidence: Your language skills are probably much better than you think. Don't worry about being perfect. The important thing is to communicate. Your language skills are probably much better than those of many people that go to other countries. They manage to communicate with a combination of all sorts of things - gestures, even pictures. Your language skills are almost certainly much better than that! Just say 'hello' to a European in the street? Hello is easy. Maybe they will want to speak more, maybe not? Maybe they speak English, maybe not. If you can find a language partner, you can start in a less threatening way - perhaps first with typing, then with just voice messages in Wechat or some other voice messaging system. It's not as easy as a video chat, as you don't have the visual cues, but it is perhaps a little less daunting?

"Feel the fear and do it anyway." In many life situations you can't necessarily make the nervousness or the fear go away, you just have to push through and do what needs to be done. If you are working with a language partner, your language partner is anxious, too, even if they manage to hide it.

As the others have said, the only way to get over your fear is to do it. Ask yourself, "What is the worst possible thing that can happen in this situation? Will the person laugh at me? Will they point at me and yell, 'You can't speak English'?" Most likely, none of that will happen. The fear we have when speaking, (or doing anything for that matter), typically comes from inside us, not from the situation itself. Examine the situation, think of the worst possible outcome, and decide how you would handle that outcome. Once you think about the worst, you may realize that the true outcome of the situation will be much less scary than you thought it would be, Good luck!
