what does "snapshot" mean in the sentence to make sense?
He's always on the lookout for a great sunrise or sunset, or even just a nice field with sheep or cows. Then he picks out one of the snapshots, clips it to his easel and paints.

A "snapshot" is an informal photograph, taken quickly and casually. A photograph can be called a "shot." "Snap" can mean something taken quickly, without much thinking. The amateur photographs people take of their children, or on vacation, when they just pull out the camera and press the button, are "snapshots."
