"continuado" is a past participle = continued
"continuasse" is also the verb "continuar", but conjugated in conditional sentence, for ex:
- Se eu continuasse trabalhando tanto, eu ficaria doente.
- If I continued working so much, I would be sick
PS. : The final ending "sse" always remind us a conditional sentence.
"Continuado and continuasse" have the same form in english, that's why you got confused.

SUBJUNTIVO, DA IDEIA DE CONDIÇÃO DE SITUAÇÃO PASSADA PARA A OCORRENCIA DE ALGO NO FUTURO.
CONTINUADO GERALMENTE VEM ACOMPANHADO DE OUTRO VERBO....É FORMA COMPOSTA.....
SE EU TIVESSE CONTINUADO, EU TERIA GANHADO A APOSTA.
PERCEBE A ...A PRIMEIRA É O SÓ UM VERBO, A SEGUNDA ESTÁ NA FORMA COMPOSTA.
