Hi Zheng
To spurn means to reject, in a contemptuous manner. So in this paragraph, it has the following meaning: most people would use a tent and a sleeping bag, but the woman considers these items to be unnecessary to her, and almost ‘beneath her’. Hope that helps! :-)
