Andrea is a fine name. It is moderately common. That is a good thing, because you don't want a difficult name that no one knows how to pronounce. But it is not so common that many women have that name. That is also a good thing, because you want people to think of you when they hear your name, not of nine or ten other women that they know named Andrea! :)
At the moment, I only know one Andrea. (I have known others in the past.) The one I know now is a child of about 11 years old. She is named after her father, Andrew.

It is a very nice name with a long history
It indicates the character of a greek hero : that of being corageous, who accepts the frontal fight
Ancient Greek traditions didn't allow arrows or thrown objects in battlefields: just man against man
This is what they called "andreìa"
In fact -- in Homer's Iliad -- the troyan Paris only uses bows and arrows : he's a man without courage .
Therefore this name -- curiously -- is one of the few which is also used for females -- especially in Romania and in Germanic countries, as women could also fight along with men -- so this is an appreciated quality. Bye
