이것 = this thing 이것은 뭐예요? What is this? 그것 = that thing (is near/close to other person) 그것은 뭐예요? What is that (you have over there)? 저것 = that thing over there 저것은 뭐예요? What is that (over there)?

"This" in korean is = 이것 "What is this?" in korean is = 이것은 뭐예요? "That" in korean is = 그것 "What is that?" in korean is = 그것은 뭐예요? Hope this helps.
