ROSS: Well I guess you can start by drivin a cab on Another World. JOEY: What? ROSS: That audition. JOEY: That's a two line part. ROSS: Joey, you owe $1100 at 【I Love Lucite】. JOEY: So what. ROSS: So suck it up man, it's a job, it's money. JOEY: Hey, look, I don't 【need you getting】 all judgemental and condescending and pedantic. ROSS: Toilet paper? JOEY: Yeah. ROSS: Look, I'm not being any of those things, ok, I'm just being realistic. JOEY: Well knock it off, you're supposed to be my friend. ROSS: I am your friend. JOEY: Well then tell me things like, 'Joey you'll be fine,' and, 'Hang in there,' and, and, 'Somethin' big's gonna come along, I know it.' ROSS: But I don't know it. What I do know is that you owe $2300 at 【Isn't it Chromantic】. questions are down in the comment section

1. I don't know if you're watching the show as well as reading the transcripts. But if you are - you'll notice that Joey's new apartment is filled with very expensive, very tacky stuff. (The kind of thing that people who have a lot of money, but not very much style buy.) Stores that sell that kind of thing often have names that are puns. So "I Love Lucite" sounds kind of like "I Love Lucy" (an old American TV show). It is exactly the type of "pun" name that a store that sold gaudy lucite objects would have. "Isn't It Romantic" is a famous song title. A store that sold chrome objects might call itself "Isn't It Chromantic." Again, a "pun" name. They _might_ be stores in the real world, but the joke is really about stores that have those sort of names, not a particular store. 2. What Dana said. "don't need you getting all ______." is something that you say when you know that the situation is not good, the other person is beginning to act _____, and their actions or words are making the situation worse or distracting you from coming up with a solution to your problem.

1) Shows usually make up brands because you need to pay or be paid to say a real company name typically. "I Love Lucite" sounds like a play on the old show "I Love Lucy." 2) In the sentence, the thing Joey doesn't need is Ross becoming judgemental. The sentence is 100% fine and very common wording.

I realise that you don't need us all pedantic and repetitive but Dana is correct; It's a common expression.

my questions: 1.are 【I Love Lucite】and【Isn't it Chromantic】real brands or just something Friends actors/directors made up? if real, what do they sell? I can’t tell from the names. 2. I’ve seen “need someone to do something (not need someone doing something)”, so is “need you getting” wrong? or people just use it in everyday English ? thank you very much and have a wonderful day
