question My friend was absent from school because he was sick. but he had never been absent before. When I meet him next day, can I say "Are you okay now? How bad a shape were you in ? I worried about you." to him? Is that sentence natural and grammarical?

I was worried about you. Are you okay now? Were you not feeling well yesterday? In conversation, we might not ask about how bad someone was feeling yesterday because they may just tell us. If you ask "how bad a shape were you in", then this could be rude to some people. It could be taken to mean "did you fake you were ill". You need to be careful of your intonation when you say it. Perhaps you could ask "Were you in bad shape yesterday?" "Were you in a bad way yesterday?"
