They are synonyms, more or less. A difference in everyday speed is a large retailer, like Walmart, has a store and smaller, usually local business, has a shop.

Store and shop are synonyms. In the United States, there is no set definition that distinguishes the two words from each other. Although the term ‘shop’ is usually used to refer to a small place that sells products and merchandise. While 'stores' tend to be larger and carry more items.
