قربونتون برم -- In what situations should I use this phrase? Hi, I've heard people say "ghorbunet(oon) beram" or simply "ghorbunet" so many times but I actually don't know in what situations they're used. Could someone please explain? Thank you! Merci, kheili mamnoon!

Hello there, It is used in spoken Farsi to whether say : 1) Thank you 2) informal goodbye ( specifically 'Ghorbunet') Examples : - How are you ? Answer : thank you , ghorbunetun beram - You look so beautiful today! Answer: oh! thanks , ghorbunetun beram The word by word meaning in English could be ' May I sacrifice my life for you' which does not really mean that way. Let's say it's kind of an informal greeting mostly used by women. Boys tend to say ' Chaakerim or Mokhlesim ' in their informal greetings with their close friends. Hope it is helpful !

It is just for "taarof" or "comity" if you heard about it

Hi, this expression has the same meaning like "thanks or thank you" in English. but we use it in some situations like: 1)when someone is doing something for you and you want to response informally BUT after thanking. for example: merc, ghorboonetoon beram مرسی قربونتون برم NOTE: Sometimes we use this expression formally with the same meaning of thank you. If someone says something good or positive about you, in response you could say "mersi, ghorboonetoon beram OR mamnoon, ghorboonetoon beram." but this time it is formally. 2) when someone wants to show his/her love and kindness to someone. for example: ghorboonet beram maman. قربونت برم مامان. I hope it was useful and clear enough.
