It’s a correct expression. It’s almost as if somebody is forcing you to do something and you’re resisting by protesting. And that you had no intention of doing this. Good luck

Yes, that is a good way to explain it. It's also conveying the sense of 'not getting what one wants' and can signal that magical moment when a person decides to do the right thing. An example would be in case of a soldier being asked to carry out an order that is morally repugnant to him or her. (But of course can be used in a lot of other social stituations, and quite often is)
