Opening Remarks vs Welcome Speech vs Opening Speech difference
Hi English native speaker, I would like to ask a question.
An event is usually opened by a speech delivered by an important person, is there any difference between "opening remarks", "welcome speech", and "opening speech". Do they have different usage?

If it is the first speech of the event, given by an important person, I would probably describe it as the Opening speech. In that case the Welcome speech/introductory remarks would likely be given by the conference organisers as a sort of precursor to the opening proper. Usage differs from place to place I am sure.
