i have been stood up what is the meaning of the above mentioned sentence

Hello Biko, "I have been stood up," means "I arranged to meet someone, but he/she has not come." It is generally used when someone doesn't turn up for a date, for example: A - So how did it go last night with Melissa? B - Terrible! She stood me up, so I ended up going to the cinema by myself.
