As selly said, it depends on the context. But I think the sentence basically means that Japan and Japanese people don't show( on the TV proglam.)
It sounds like about TV programs.

It would depend on the context, but the sentence basically means that "nothing about either Japan or Japanese language came out".
So, a speaker may talk about some TV programs or stories.
