How do you feel about the name 'Mingo' And 'Yimo' as English nickname? Thanks!
My children keep calling each other ‘Mingo'( sounds like,Ming-go) and 'Yimo'(Yee-moo). I guess that they just like the sound.
"Mingo' is for my son and "Yimo' for my daughter.
Do those sound like weird or even bad names to native English speakers? Thanks!

No, they're not bad or weird. Unusual words for an English native speaker to hear as a name, but nothing wrong with that.

I'm sure it's fine in China. However, if you were to come to Britain, your son would be teased for being called 'Mingo'. In fact, British kids would tease another kid BY calling them 'Mingo'. Among young people in Britain today, 'ming', 'minging' and 'minger' are slang words for someone or something that's smelly and disgusting.

They do not sound natural but there is nothing, to my mind, weird about them
