Please help me figure it out with this sentence.
Could you tell me if sentences like this one is grammatically correct and please give me some examples of how I can paraphrase it. Thank you in advance!
"The renovation done a year ago had set Andrew back a lot of money, but now his house looked almost equally with its neighboring rivals".

To paraphrase, I might say the following.
Andrew paid for some expensive renovations last year, but now his house looks almost as good as the others in his neighbourhood.
