Private clubs, ads. Hello! In an American movie,, two detectives are paying a visit to a woman at her place of work (which is a diner). The scene starts with: Detective #1: Private clubs, ads. Woman: Really, he's just a guy I rented a room from. If he was coming, I was always going. Detective #1: Did he frequent public parks? Woman: He didn't dick little boys through bathroom walls. I wounder if you could tell me the meaning of the "ads" above. I just doesn't make any sense to me. Thank you.

It doesn't make sense to me either... what was the movie called? We could look for this scene on YouTube and see if we can catch that word properly.

Thank you, thomas and Greg! Judging by her looks, it was addressed to the woman. She is in her 20s and is wearing slightly indecent clothes. Her roommate was killed and he was gay. The movie is from 80s, but the way.

Yes, a little more context or background information is needed. My guess is the detective wants to know whether she knows if the guy visited private clubs and whether he placed personal ads (papers/online).

It is difficult to know for sure without the full context of the movie, but I think the detective is saying someone is an exotic dancer in private clubs and places advertisements, or "ads," as a prostitute.
