Professional TeacherMeaning of кемпинг?
Hello, so wiktionary is lacking an article in the word "кемпинг". From a basic look at the word (and looking at Russian Wikipedia and Google images) I could tell its etymology is probably from the English word "camping".
However from Russian Wikipedia I feel the definition is closer to "campsite" than "camping".
So 2 questions:
(1) What is the meaning of кемпинг:
- camping: A leisurely activity in which time is spent outdoors
or
-campsite: A place where camping takes place
or
-camping: a term used in video games to describe someone who hides and kills (I know lots of loan words are borrowed from English regarding internet activities)
-something else?
(2) How do you pronounce кемпинг?
- where is the stress (кемпи́нг or ке́мпнг)
- Is it phonetically written (I know some English loan words become hard: IE теннис "тэннис", интернет "интэрнэт", менеджер "мэнеджер";
- кемпинг - "кэмпинг"?

"Кемпинг" is mostly about the place for camping. It is not a popular word in Russia and many people (the old ones) don't even know it. If you search Russia in google maps, you would see some кемпинг's in there. But we usually don't use this word in a meaning of the process of camping.
About the pronunciation, ке́мпнг is the right one. About Е or Э... Well, Э is of course better, but i guess most of russian would say E (even me, haha)
And, about camping in games. To be honest, I didn't even know it can be used this way :D I'm not really a gamer, but as I know, we call characters like that "син" or "ассасИн".
Hope it helped you somehow :D
