How to learn a new language by yourself? Hi!! I'm learning English and I want to start to learn German, I can't afford classes, so I have to learn it by myself. I see that a lot of people here speak a lot of languages, so I was wondering if some of you have learnt by yourself. If so, do you have some tips for someone who is starting to learn a new language by themselves? How to start, improve it and become fluent?

So these are some things I do when I start a language!: Start a binder. This binder is for conjugations of MAIN and essential verbs (ie: to do, to go, to want, to be able to, etc). I write down the main 3 or 4 tenses for each verb (one verb per page). Create cheat sheet notes for main and important conversation starters. What’s essential here is to understand how to ask and answer questions (ie: how are you? What do you like to do for fun? What’s your opinion of..?) Enrich your language by learning adjectives, adverbs and their placement! These are SO common in everyday speech. Then I always start reading and writing on day one. I keep a journal I write in everyday and I start reading and learning new words immediately. I also watch and listen to as much media in that language as I can. The key is INPUT and also contextual learning. Learning a whole bunch of vocab won’t help you if you don’t know how to use it! Good luck!!
