The job is underway or ongoing? Can I use the both phrases below in a business letter? Are the words "job" and "works" interchangeable here: can I say "the job is ongoing" or "the works are underway"? The works are ongoing. The job is underway.

'Underway' tells us that the project has started; 'ongoing' tells us that it hasn't finished yet. I wouldn't use the plural 'works' unless you're talking about construction and repairs. 'Work' would be preferable.

Need more context, but to be safe, I think it would be more safer to say the job is underway.
