could you explain the meaning of "xx" or "xoxo" when someone texts me?

x = a kiss
o = a hug
It's an affectionate sign-off at the end of a message. This is a mainly British convention. Girls and women use it all the time with friends and family members.

It means “hugs & kisses” meaning they wish you well.
