How different is the Mexican dialect of Spain compared to the Argentinian one? *dialect of Spanish Hey guys...I am intending to learn Mexican Spanish in conversation, I was wondering if having an Argentinian for a language partner (or any other Latin American country apart from Mexico) would affect how I speak? Thank you and forgive my ignorance :)

Just learn Spanish, the language. Just like in English, there are different accents, and sometimes different words in different regions/countries, but it is the same language. I learnt Spanish with a teacher from Madrid for 2 years, then one year with one from Argentina. I went on holidays to Mexico for a month, and I changed my accent while there, and later had no problems with the Spanish of Peru and Bolivia. It is the same language, and you will find partners and learning material (podcasts/TV, etc) with different accents, and you will understand them.

I did an internet search on - listen spanish accents - and these were the first two hits: https://www.spanishlistening.org/ https://www.mosalingua.com/en/how-to-recognize-different-spanish-accents/

It will only affect how you speak if you try to imitate them. Argentinians have a different pronunciation and they conjugate some verbs slightly differently but.... it’s still the same language so.... if anything you’ll be able to understand better
