Why does fat cat mean rich businessmen? Do you know the origin?

There's probably a link to the idiom "the cat that got the cream" here. However, it's probably also a reference to the overindulgence of the rich.

It probably originally refers to comparing a tame pet cat that drinks a lot of fattening creamy milk, and is pampered and does not have to fend for itself and grows fat as a result.

As a cat person: because they basically do nothing but they are fat which means they earn a lot . Just like cats who do nothing but get petted and receive treats all the time!
