Firstly, welcome to Malaysia, Kelsie!
Now with the Covid-19 Movement Control Order (MCO), most Malaysians are under curfew. A hot topic would revolve around activities at home.
1. What are you doing now at home? (Kamu sekarang buat apa di rumah?)
2. I am working from home now. (Saya bekerja dari rumah sekarang.)
3. I am learning a new language/cooking/baking/watching television/using my mobile phone. (Saya sedang belajar bahasa baru/memasak/membuat kek/menonton televisyen/guna telefon bimbit).
4. I hope the Movement Control Order (MCO) will not be extended again. (Saya berharap agar Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan (PKP) tidak akan dilanjutkan lagi.)
5. I am bored at home! (Saya bosan duduk di rumah!)
Malaysia prides itself for its food culture. You can never go wrong.
1. I like/do not like to eat ... (Saya suka/tidak suka makan...)
2. What do you like to eat? (Kamu suka makan apa?)
3. I like to eat fried rice/fried noodle/roti canai/nasi lemak. (Saya suka makan nasi goreng/mee goreng/roti canai/nasi lemak.)
4. I can/can not take spicy food. (Saya boleh/tidak boleh makan pedas.)
5. I like Malay/Chinese/Indian cuisine. (Saya suka masakan Melayu/Cina/India.)
You can always talk about the weather. Malaysians complain about the heat mostly. Some examples :)
1. It is really hot today! (Hari ini sangat panas! / Sungguh panas hari ini!)
2. It is really windy today! (Sungguh berangin hari ini!)
3. It is a pity when it rains... (Sayang sekali bila hujan...)
4. What kind of weather do you like? (Kamu suka cuaca yang bagaimana?)
5. The heat is unbearable. (Saya tidak tahan panas.)
