Why would i say "Mucho gusto en conocerte"?
Is this repeating "mucho gusto"?

Mucho gusto simply means "My Pleasure". When you add the en conocerte, you are saying "Its a pleasure to meet you." When people meet, it is acceptable to just say mucho gusto, though. You are not being repetitive.

I agree with Tiffany. It is not repetitive at all. It is the most common way to say it. It is polite and kind.
You can say only "Mucho gusto" if you prefer
It is probably a bit less formal
