What does it mean " she is my east and west; my compass" ?

Hey! Don't know whether you flushed that one out in a book or something, but it is a very romantic and figurative way of saying that someone is able to show you the way in life, or what to do when you are lost, like a compass would. It therefore implies that thanks to the girl that is most likely mentioned by the hero in the (novel), the boy can never be lost and can never stray away.
That is only my interpretation of it though. Perhaps the author purposefully did not reference the North and the South in their metaphor, which can only suggest that the girl supposed to be that boy's guide/compass may have some blind spots to her and thus may lead the couple to jeopardy , should they venture in uncharted territories.
