Hello Edgar you can memorize words if you listen carefully, repeat and practise in a conversation... It is possible to do that here on Italki... Also you need to read a lot and take all the opportunities you have to use this new vocabulary...

In order to remember more English words you can follow 2 methods. First is the repetition-based method, where you learn English words by writing them several times or saying them repeatedly until you remember them all. If you patiently follow the process, you will see your vocabulary extended very well. Secondly, you also need have to have a notebook with your own note-taking rules. Each time you log onto Italki, note down any new words in the Questions and Answers section. The only problem is whether you want a rich vocabulary or not. Any good plan should answer the four following questions. Firstly, how many words will you learn a week: five, ten, fifteen or more? Secondly, when will you learn them? At a fixed time every other morning or anytime you feel like learning? This is what I personally recommend. Thirdly, how often will you review what you have learnt: once a week, once a month or before a test ? Finally, what areas of English will you focus on: sports, music, games or sciences? The answers may vary a great deal from one person to another depending on memory, schedules and interest. Otherwise, your study results won't be as you expected. You can gain a big vocabulary and improve your English by simply by determining what field of words to learn, making a plan of learning, choosing a learning method and regularly practising your plan and method. Although it is up to you, daily vocab learning is better than weekly and weekly is better than monthly.Good luck. I find that these 3 memorizing strategies work the best . * Associate. Use basic characteristics of memory to learn new material. * Visualize. Use mental imagery to support goals, rehearse skills and reinforce other techniques. * Verbalize. Use words and writing to learn faster.

Hello Edgar Yin, If you don't have time to sit there and read some material to help you memorize, try to learn new words during any activity you do. It requires some concentration and the intention to learn . At work you certainly come across many new English words, in the market place when shopping .If you hit any entertainment place you will be reading brochures, menus , etc .. When you watch a movie , listen to a song.. you are literally exposed to hearing lots of English during a normal working day. If you concentrate with the intention to grasp some of those words you might manage to learn a few if not many of them. You could type some of them instantly in your notebook, if it is convenient to do so . This might help you memorize the word. At the end of a week or whenever you have the time, check those words and their meanings now and then, that could help you memorize quite a lot of words that you will have acquired in certain circumstances related to the vocabulary. You can keep the food menus and learn the name of meals , the film reviews and learn few words from them. You say you don't have 'enough time' , but at least you have to dedicate some time to look up few words you don't understand once, then from time to time when you are free ,look through those papers or brochures so that you memorize the words eventually. However a real improvement requires more dedication ,where you should read, listen and speak more often to learn new vocabulary, be able to apply it efficiently in forming correct sentences and eventually speaking fluently. Good luck:)
