What's 'because' in Korean? If you could translate these two sentences into Korean, it would help me a lot 1) I didn't go to school today BECAUSE I'm sick. 2) I had to wake up at 6:45 am BECAUSE OF school.Dean, can you give me some examples using these: 때문입니다. ~서에요(~해서에요) ~니까요(~하니까)

1) 오늘 아파서 학교에 가지 않았어요. 오늘 아팠기때문에 학교에 가지 않았어요. 오늘 학교에 가지 않았어요. 왜냐하면 아팠거든요. 2) 학교에 가야 해서 오전 6시 45분에 일어나야(만) 했어요. 학교에 가야 하기 때문에 오전 6시 45분에 일어나야 했어요. 오전 6시 45분에 일어나야 했어요. 왜냐하면 학교에 가야했거든요. because in Korean as following : At the start of a sentence, It is 왜냐하면(왜냐면) At the middle of a sentence, as a conjunction, It is 때문에, ~서(~해서), ~니까(~하니까) At the e nd of a sentence, It is 때문입니다. ~서에요(~해서에요), ~니까요(~하니까) note that I explained all with polite expressions, If you have more question feel free to mail me, as i don't think it's well enough explained. I may add some later, because now I have to go sleep. Cheers

1) 오늘 아파서 학교 안 갔어요 2) I had to wake up at 6:45 am BECAUSE OF school. 학교 때문에 아침 6시 45분(여섯시 사십오분)에 일어나야 됐어요/했어요 About the reason I omitted "에" after 학교, it's too obvious that 학교 is the place you didn't go to. For this reason and the economical reason, omitting postpositions happens very often in spoken Korean. 아파서요. Because I'm sick 아파서예요. It's because I'm sick 아프니까요. Because I'm sick (It's emphatic as compared to 아파서요) -기 때문에 is being used in formal writing or speech, nor 때문입니다/-기 때문입니다. 왜냐하면 is not used very often. If someone asks "오늘 학교 왜 안 갔어요?", you can say "아파서요" or "아팠거든요". Considering your Korean level, I don't think you should learn 왜냐하면/왜냐면 because it's a little bit tricky to use properly. Noun + 때문에 숙제 때문에 많이 못 놀아요. The verb stem + -서 졸려서 일찍 잤어요 I slept early because I was sleepy. (Be aware that 졸려서 wasn't written in the past tense. -서 can't be conjugated with the past tense verb unlike -니까 can be.) And lastly, -서 is a conjugational ending, like -도, -요. Every conjugational ending has -어/아 before itself. 하다 is an irregular verb and 하(the stem of 하다) becomes 해 when conjugated with -서/-도/-요. E.g. 공부하다 - 공부해서 - 공부해도 - 공부해요

나는 당신이 아름답고 정직하기 때문에 좋아합니다. (당신을 좋아해요. 당신이 아름답고 정직하기 때문입니다.) I like you because you are beautiful and honest. (당신을 좋아했어요. 당신이 아름답고 정직하니까요.) I liked you because you are beautiful and honest. 난 행복해요 당신 때문입니다. (당신 때문에 나는 행복합니다.) I'm happy because of you. (내 행복은 당신이니까요)
