"excuse me, could I have the bill please?"
in some standard restaurant, some people may tend to use hand signal (i.e. illustrating the bill/check) rather of calling the waiter/waitress.

Miss, give me the check, please. ( In Lax, most people working at the restaurents are female, miss is more common than waitress). If it is a he, then just say: check please.
