A writer’s style is very important and is evident through word choice and sentence fluency. Skillful use of precise, purposeful vocabulary enhances the effectiveness of a novel or play, through the use of appropriate words, phrases and descriptions that engage the readers. Sentence fluency and descriptive language are crucial to hook readers. If the first page doesn't grab your interest, not many people would continue to read a book.

To hook readers, you need to start with something interesting, but more importantly, relevant to the reader. People don't tend to read things that mean nothing to them. So you need to explain your topic in a way that involves them. To hold the reader, keep them curious. Make your topic or story unfold bit-by-bit, always revealing something new. You don't need to explain every single detail - sometimes it's better to leave a "question mark" to keep the reader wondering.

hi, Rhem, i'm not a wirter, but as a reader, the book which has a interesting story, and the sentence is easy to understand, would attract my attention! and of course, as Jura said the writer's style is important! good luck!
