Please help! <interpretation/translation help on message(s)> Please help! I have a Japanese pen-pal (sorta). He’s a 24 y.o. male from Gifu, if that helps (although, so far, all he’s written seems like pretty standard Japanese...) He wants to use more journal-type communication, but I was hoping to use more letters to each other. He wrote, “I have a suggestion for you, I wrote my diary or You worte your diary sent for you or me, That is we corrections this please. Ok?" But, I was really hoping to keep emailing back and forth, so I replied: watashi ha Eme-ru wo kaita hou ga ii kamoshirenai to omoimasu. I think that emails might be better. (Shitsumon suru to kotae suru dakara.) There's more interactive learning. (Because we ask questions and answer questions.) T_T Plus <also>, interesting things don't happen to me. Watashi no nikki ha taikutsu desu kamoshiremasen to omou. I think my journal would probably be boring. Sono kekka, anata ni, taikutsu na yomimono. Because of that, it'd be boring for you to read. Watashi ha anata wo unzari shita hoshikuwanai. I don’t want you to be bored! Anata ha watashi yori motto omoshiroibito kamoshiremasen to omou! I think you're probably a much more interesting person than I am. But, do whatever is more convenient for you, journal or email. <His correction for the above was: (watasi ha Ema-ru de rennraku wo totta houga ii to omoimasu) I think that emails might be better. (nazenara, otagaiga situmonsite, otagaiga kotaerukara. (tabunn watasi no nikki ha taikutu dato omou) (demo, anata ha nikki ka ema-ru ka, tugou no ii hou wo site iiyo)> His reply to my message was: I don't bored for you, It's impossible. I wont to sent Email each other.(journal and interactive learning. I sent a journal is only in English. That's you correct it please. I think it is hard you are, but journal is very short a letter please. The Email also keep . If so please tell me absolutely impossible. Have I said something wrong, confusing, or misrepresenting? And…Does this mean that he doesn’t want to keep emailing, and he only wants to use journals? Or does he want to do some of both? Please help! I know it’s a lot to read, but I really need some help! Thank you!

You can keep e-mail conversations. But he also wants to improve his writing skill in journal style at the same time. So he wants you to correct his English, but you don't necessarily need to write journals in Japanese. (If you do, he will still read them interestingly!) In that way, both your and his interests will meet:) Let me re-translate his reply for you. His good intension is pretty clear in his Japanese. --------------------------------- I don't bored for you, It's impossible. > (You said you may make me bored, but) it's impossible! I'll never feel boring with you. I wont to sent Email each other.(journal and interactive learning. > I want to send both emails, in which we will learn interactively, and journals. I sent a journal is only in English. > I'll send my journals only in English. That's you correct it please. I think it is hard you are, but journal is very short a letter please. >Please correct them for me. I know correcting is not an easy job, but please do me a favor. Journals will not be too long. The Email also keep . If so please tell me absolutely impossible. どうしても無 理そうだったら教えてください >I will also keep emailing you like this. If you find it[correcting journals, I guess] really inconvenient for you, please tell me so. ---------------------- Hope you guys will keep the good friendship forever:)

Nao is right. I think he wants to do the both ( keep emailing and using journal ). So, there is no problem, I guess.

I think he's now trying to improve his writing ability, just wants you to correct his sentences or expression now. As he says, he'd like to keep e-mailing with you, why don't you help him to exchange journals for a while? You'll come to know his daily life more and may find his hidden personality!
