No way. Apart from the language not being truly representative of greater Europe (sorry if that offends), but having English as *the* official language opens up European affairs to vested interest and perhaps interference from non-European, English-speaking nations. Mine included.
This probably knocks out several other candidate languages as well. Maybe it should be Latin or Esperanto?? hehe :-P
