Pine away means lose energy, health, vigor (through grief). Lose heart. Lose interest.
For example,
"After losing her love, she just pined away".

When flowers are old, and loose their blossoms, they "pine away".
It is like the Spanish word "marchitarse"
It's also used in a poetic way, to describe people, when they loose their former look, energy and charisma.
