Try to make the meaning "personal" for you. For example, if you learn the word "tree," think of a tree that you know near your house. If you learn the word "exhausted" think of the last time you were exhausted. Personalizing words makes them easier to remember. When learning vocabulary try to memorize words grouped by subject. So learn a group of words related to school, or words related to art. This is actually how vocabulary for your first language is organized in the brain - if you can make a connection between vocabulary in your first language and your second language it will be easier to remember. When writing down words, use different colored pens to organize them. This works if you are a visual learner. Hope this advice helps you! :-) Mel

- Write sentences and essays which include new interesting vocabulary. This way can help you improve both your speaking and writing skills. Besides, it helps you remember the new words that you acquire. - Read as much as possible from a different variety of authentic reading materials (books, newspapers, magazines, etc). - Use a good English dictionary that can clearly define words, provide information about grammar and give sample sentences to show how words are used in context.

1. Read, read, and read. The more you read -- especially novels and literary works, but also magazines and newspapers -- the more words you'll be exposed to. As you read and uncover new words, use a combination of attempting to derive meaning from the context of the sentence as well as from looking up the definition in a dictionary. 2. Keep a dictionary and thesaurus handy. Use whatever versions you prefer -- in print, software, or online. When you uncover a new word, look it up in the dictionary to get both its pronunciation and its meaning(s). Next, go to the thesaurus and find similar words and phrases -- and their opposites (synonyms and antonyms, respectively) -- and learn the nuances among the words. There are more methods here. http://www.enhancemyvocabulary.com/improve-expand-vocabulary.html P.S. My own experience. I have read, written and done lots of grammar exercises. :)
