what's the difference between "desear" and "querer" in spanish?

Desear = to wish
Querer = to want

In spanish "Desear" is used to express anything you wish ..like : I wish travel to Paris : )
and "querer" is like anything you want or like : D commonly express your love for someone "Te quiero" is like "I love you"
