"great wealth and influece", what is the meaning of "influence" in this sentence. "He had to consider all of this along with the the personal issues he encountered when he worked with men of great wealth and influence, because these were people whose support he depended on for his next book." I know what influence means but I don't understand what the influence supposed to be there. Thank you.Thank you for the answers Dark Panther, Jura, Eliot, Cherry! I got it now. I thought it could be the thing you all mentioned but didn't know word "influence" put in this sentence/ grammar so wasn't very sure. " a great wealth and influence" sounds like a political joke to me! haha. Thank you very much. For the Japanese learners . It's "富と権力" .

Influence comes with wealth. Rich people can influence others to do them favours thereby expecting them to do a favour for them in the near future. Think of rich people in your city and the power they have over others.
