Many people are fighting in the war, and they are “blowing up the sunshine” with bombs, which ties in with the song’s title “Bring Your Own Bombs” (i.e. “B.Y.O.B” to the “party” in the desert).

I do believe that he means the people fighting the war are having a good time exploding bombs and shooting guns in the desert sunshine. The war seems to have no real meaning to the soldiers.
