What do you think about it?
I read an article about how shaming people can be a way to punish criminals.
In those page, the journalist talks about a women who poisoned kittens and who was filmed by a neighbour who published the video on the net. She was fined, but her real punishment was public ridicule. The same thing happened with drunk drivers, whose pictures were posted on Twitter so that everyone could recognize them. What do you think about it? Could it be a way to reduce crimes? Is it right to punish someone in this way? Could there be any negative effect?

Justice in a civilised democracy has to be set out by the law, and the law (both local, national and international) bans cruel, unusual and humiliating punishment. We must give people a chance to reform themselves and if we humiliate them that could ruin their life forever. Lots of us do stupid stuff when we're young that we regret as adults, move on and don't want to be reminded of.
