What's the difference between hips and thighs?

"hip" is either of the two sides of the body just below the waist. Ex: She fell and broke her left hip.
"thigh" is the upper section of the leg between the knee and the hip. Ex: The soccer player sustained a thigh muscle injury.

Lol, a BIG difference.
Anatomically, the hip is actually the bony projection of the femur, known as the greater trochanter, and the overlying muscle and fat.The thigh is the area between the pelvis, buttocks and the knee.

Your hips are the joints on each side of your pelvis and your thighs are the upper part of your leg between the hip and the knee.
