Ungracious does not mean 'poorly dressed'.
It means Edie has lost her home and although other people are willing to help her, she wants only the best things given to her.
So if Edie is relying on someone else for help, her friend is saying that Edie needs to accept what they give to her and be polite in thanking them.

Ungracious does not mean poorly dressed.
Ungracious means generally without manners and a person with poor social skills.
In the context you wrote Edies friend is saying she has lost her home so if she is impolite (ungracious) she could be without clothes too if she doesn't be grateful for the offer.
